Things to Bring
In order to make your time at conference comfortable and lessen your environmental impact, here is a short list of items you should bring with you:
- The pre-conference Fair Trade info sheet (only if you didn’t have time to read it)
- Warm clothes - extra socks, mittens, a hat (we will be outside for the Massive Outreach Event!)
- A mug and/or water bottle
- A re-usable bag to carry items for the massive outreach event
- Shampoo/conditioner
- Soap
- Bathing suit
- Fancy duds for gala
- Pens/pencils (we will be providing a pad of paper, but delegates should still bring their chapter log book)
- Camera for capturing good memories
- Musical instrument (there will be a coffeehouse during the Wednesday evening social!)
- Chapter garb
- A smile and energy!
Meals
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided at the Delta on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the exception of Thursday dinner, which delegates will be expected to provide for themselves in downtown Toronto (transportation provided), and the Saturday night Gala Banquet which will take place downtown. Both vegetarian and omnivorous options will be available at the conference, and all special dietary needs will be taken into consideration to the best of our ability.
Shuttle Service
This year the conference will be providing a shuttle service for delegates both arriving and departing from the conference. The cost per delegate per trip remains to be determined, but it will be significantly below the cost of a commercial shuttle or taxi.
Delegates arriving at Pearson International Airport on Wednesday, January 21 should head to Terminal One, where a regular conference shuttle will be picking up delegates every half hour from 2:30pm until 10:30pm. A free shuttle service is available between terminals at Pearson.
Delegates arriving by bus or train can make their way to Union Station in downtown Toronto. Via Rail stops directly at Union Station, and the Greyhound station is connected via subway to Union Station. Delegates should take the GO Bus from Union Station to Square One in Mississauga (cost: $4.55). The conference’s shuttle service will pick delegates up every half hour, from 2:30pm until 10:30pm, at the Square One GO Bus stop.
Arriving by Car
The Delta Meadowvale is extremely easy to find: take the Mississauga Road exit (Exit 336) off the 401 and head south (right turn) on Mississauga Road. You can see the Delta from the 401, as it is approximately 500 metres away.
Parking at the Delta costs $12.00 + tax for overnight stays, and a maximum of $6 for those not staying overnight.
